Introduction

My ambitions in sculpture started many years ago in the 1970’s while living in Northwest Connecticut.  I enrolled in two consecutive classes learning the art of the “Lost Wax System”, utilizing the use of wax, molds and the pouring of bronze to create a figure or object of your choice.  I enjoyed this instruction tremendously and then realized that this was something I should pursue.

Unfortunately my job and other responsibilities were more important at that time and the art classes were put aside for another time.

In the 30 years following, we moved to the Philadelphia area to be closer to family and four grandchildren quickly growing to adulthood.

On my 66th birthday, my daughter, tired of me threatening to start art classes at a local art center, gave me a gift certificate to do so.  For me to enroll took one full year facing the gift certificate expiring when I finally signed up for a class sculpting in clay.

Every Thursday, 5 hours for 12 weeks fit perfectly in my working 3 days a week schedule. It has been almost 3 years since that day, taking almost every class offered.
I was very fortunate to get an accomplished instructor who has been able to pass on and teach me his many abilities. I continue to seek his instruction and advice.

While visiting cousins in Montreal, Canada, My wife found a sculpting studio for me to take a 3 day course in the heart of Old Montreal from a very talented instructor,  adding to my every growing knowledge of the art.

In conclusion, I must thank my daughter first because she gave me the push that I needed to jump start something down deep and ready to blossom, which has enhanced my life.  My wife, family and friends have been very supportive and encouraging to follow my dream.
